About this object
View of Herschell Street and Marine Parade taken in 1905. On the extreme left of the image stands the Masonic Hotel. The South British Insurance Company building is visible on the corner of Herschell Street and Browning Street. Along the right side of Herschell Street is the band rotunda donated to the Borough of Napier by Neal and Close in 1894, the Borough Council Chambers, built 1874, and the Athenaeum. To the right of the band rotunda is Marine Parade in front of which is a canon. The right side of Marine Parade is lined with young Norfolk Island Pines. Tree guards enclose each of the trees.
