View of Marine Parade looking towards Napier Hill, taken in the late nineteenth century. The Napier Courthouse (designed by William Henry Clayton, completed 1875) stands on the left side of the photograph. Further along Marine Parade, the Hawke's Bay Club, a two-storey homestead and several houses are visible.

On the right side of the photograph, park benches are located along the shore line. Two men are seated on the park benches.

Bluff Hill is visible in the distance.
