The business premises of Stuart and Company and Watt Brothers are visible at the left facing west along the wharf at Nelson Quay.
The Ahuriri Lagoon has not yet been divided into the North and South Pond by Ossian Street.
The ship docked at Cattle Wharf is the S.S. Star of the South, built in 1863.
