About this object
View of Port Ahuriri and the Western Spit from Napier Hill thought to have been taken in 1880. Napier Hill is visible in the foreground. A post and wire fence runs along the ridgeline. Port Ahuriri is located on the right side of the photograph. West Quay is in the centre of the photograph. Petane Bridge is visible linking West Quay and the Western Spit (Westshore). West Quay is connected to the mainland by Hyderabad Road.
The Inner Harbour can be seen on the left and the Kaweka Ranges are visible in the distance.
