About this object
View of Bluff Hill near the Port of Napier, possibly taken in the late nineteenth century. Bluff Hill is located on the right side of the photograph. The base of the hill had been blasted for the extension of the breakwater in the harbour. Railway lines runs around the base of the hill. In the centre of the image a crane is in operation. To the right of the crane, a timber structure is being erected or dismantled. A group of men pose in front of the structure. Piles of building materials are located nearby.
