About this object
This photograph depicts a group of sailors posed in front of a damaged building after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931. Two Petty Officers in caps are also in the group. The building is thought to be the Grand Hotel on Heretaunga Street in Hastings, which suffered damaged during the earthquake. It was later destroyed by fire.
