About this object
This photograph depicts Russell Street in Hastings after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931. At the very left of the photograph is part of the Hastings Post Office. Pictured to the right of this is a row of brick and concrete offices and shops that survived the earthquake. These buildings are occupied by multiple businesses, including W H C Swan, Dentist; W A Williamson, Newsagent and Stationer; H B Poppelwell and Company, Clotheriers and Mercers; Macalister, Hairdressers and Tobacconists; A Garnett, Architect; The Cake Kitchen; Dominion Fish Company; and Adams Bruce Limited.
