About this object
This photograph depicts Market Street in Hastings after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931. The photograph has been taken looking towards Heretaunga Street. The Hastings Club stands on the left side of the street in the foreground. The collapsed building next to this is the Carnegie Library. Both buildings were designed by Napier architect Mr C A Vautier.
