About this object
This photograph depicts the corner of Heretaunga and Russell streets after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931. On the extreme right of the photograph, the awning of the Westerman's buildings is visible. It is thought that the ruins at the centre to the photograph are those of the Grand Hotel, which collapsed in the earthquake.

Photographer, Bob Scanlon.
