About this object
A stereoscope photograph of an interior wedding breakfast.
It is believed that this rare interior view was taken by Monteith. If it is indeed a photograph of a wedding breakfast, then it is more than likely taken in 1859 during the wedding of one of his daughters, possibly Lucy Eleanor Monteith.
Because of the lengthy exposures required, interior photographs are not common. Counting the chairs it seems as if about 10 guests were invited to share the festivities.
