About this object
This photograph depicts Roach's Department Store on the corner of King and Heretaunga Streets in Hastings. The photograph was taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931.

The building collapsed instantly on the 3rd of February 1931, due to a lack of pillar support which meant to upper floor caved in.
