A group portrait of the Napier Boys' High School winners of the Royal Life Saving Society's Vigor Brown Shield, 1927.

The photograph of the team members and their instructor is a studio portrait.

The young men are identified. The back row from left to right: L G Hannah G E Long D Stevenson.
In the middle seated behind the shield with folded arms is the instructor E R Murphy.
The two boys seated on either side of the instructor are N Simmonds on the left and P F Gleeson on the right hand side.
