About this object
These two photographs form a panorama showing the damage to Napier's central business area caused by the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931. The Masonic Bar can be seen at the back of the section belonging to the original hotel, facing Hastings street. The Criterion Bar is located in the middle left of the photograph, below the Public Trust Office. The Waiapu Diocese is visible in the middle distance and St Paul's Presbyterian Church is on the left hand side. The back of Parkers and Company can be seen on the right. The roads have been cleared.
