About this object
View of the Hildebrandt’s Building (1933), designed by J A Louis Hay taken from the intersection of Dalton Street and Tennyson Street looking south east. A number of signs appear in the windows of the building, including those advertising Thomas Rouse (tailor). The name W H Hildebrant features on the awning that is located on the Dalton Street façade of the building.

To the left of the Hildebrandt’s Building stands the premises of the Hawke’s Bay Building & Investment Society, completed 1932. Immediately behind the Hildebrandt’s Building is the Smith and Chambers Trust building (later known as the Kidsons Building), which is located on the corner of Dalton Street and Emerson Street.
