About this object
This photograph depicts the temporary wooden church that served as St John's Cathedral after the Hawke's Bay earthquake destroyed the brick Cathedral on the 3rd of February 1931. The temporary building was completed in October 1932 and served for twenty-five years as the Cathedral for the diocese. The Waiapu Diocesan Offices are just visible to the left of the frame.
