About this object
View of repairs to the East Coast Railway Line thought to have been taken in the aftermath of the 1938 flash flood. The photograph records the process of reconstructing one of the railway bridges, possibly over the Kopuawhara Stream near Māhia, or in the Esk Valley. Pictured is a pulley system that uses a large weight to force foundations into the ground. A rail wagon is located to the right of this piece of machinery.
