About this object
View of the East Coast Railway Line thought to have been taken in the aftermath of the 1938 flash flood at Kopuawhara, near Māhia. Pictured is a retaining wall with a water drain running down the hill face with the railway line above. A railway crane can be seen near the top right corner of the photograph. At the top of the image, part of the hillside beneath the track has collapsed leaving the line suspended in mid air.
