About this object
View of Marine Parade looking north towards Bluff Hill. In the left foreground stands the Veronica Sunbay (built 1934), designed by J T Watson. Gardens have been planted along the esplanade. The Kirk Sundial is visible at the end of the gardens. Further along Marine Parade, the Tom Parker Fountain (1936) and the Municipal Baths (opened 1909) are visible. Among the buildings that are visible along Marine Parade is the Napier Courthouse (designed by William Henry Clayton, completed 1875). Marine Parade is lined with mature Norfolk Island Pines. Two young pines surrounded by tree guards have been planted near the courthouse. Bluff Hill is visible in the distance.
