About this object
An image of a small white bridge over a flooded river.
The surrounding land is flooded and the river is swollen. There is a car on the left hand side of the bridge which appears to be approaching it to drive across. In the distance there is a telegraph pole and further flooded farmland.
This photograph was possibly taken following the significant flooding that occurred in Hawke’s Bay in April 1938. The three days of rain created severe and region wide damage to property, roads and bridges.
Photographer, Dave Williams.
