About this object
A photograph depicting part of the construction of the Hastings city waste water outfall.

The image illustrates men welding and constructing an iron frame on the beach. Waves are crashing on to the framework where they are working. A man holding welding equipment is visible close to the edge of the structure. Another man is carrying something near by a steel drum that is resting on its side.
Presumably the frame was used in making a structure to encase the outfall pipe at the shoreline. There is a partial view of machinery, possibly a pile driver, in the right hand corner of the image.
The photograph is likely to have been taken on the foreshore near Haumoana and Clive.
