About this object
A photograph depicting part of the construction of the Hastings city waste water outfall.

The image shows a group of men working around the pile driver machine. Presumably the pile driver was used in making a structure to encase the outfall pipe at the shoreline.
There are two men working at the end of the pile driver. Two other men are standing on the structure observing. A driver is visible in the cab of the machine.
There is a line of wooden beams in the sand behind which the machine is situated. A pile of gravel sits in the foreground at the right of the image.
The photograph is likely to have been taken on the foreshore near Haumoana and Clive.
