About this object
This photograph depicts the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Co-op Building on Market Street in Hastings after the Hawke's Bay earthquake.
The building was constructed in 1930 using brick panelling and reinforced concrete. Floating foundations were built, which meant the building did not strain with tension from ground movement during the earthquake.
The building was designed by architect Edmund Anscombe.
The photographer is thought to be Frank L Moodie, architect.
