About this object
View of Marine Parade looking south taken in 1907. Among the buildings that are visible along Marine Parade are a two storey homestead, the Hawke’s Bay Club (designed by Walter P Finch, built 1906), the Napier Courthouse (designed by William Henry Clayton, completed 1875), and the Borough Council Chambers (built 1874). In the distance, the band rotunda donated to the Borough of Napier by Neal and Close in 1894 stands on the corner of Marine Parade and Herschell Street. On the opposite side of the street, Marine Parade is lined with young Norfolk Island Pines. Tree guards enclose each of the trees.
