About this object
View of Marine Parade from the forecourt in front of the Masonic Hotel looking south east, thought to have been taken around 1907. On the right side of the image stands the South African War Memorial (1906). A crowd of people have gathered in front of the memorial. A number of people in the crowd are wearing uniforms. A note on the back of the photograph states that the event was held to mark the end of a cycle race from Waipawa. On the opposite side of the street, Marine Parade is lined with Norfolk Island Pines.
