About this object
View of Marine Parade looking west from the esplanade. In the foreground, a woman sits in a horse drawn carriage. On the extreme left of the image, the back of the Borough Council Chambers (built 1874) is visible. To the right of the council chambers is a tall tower from which a bell is hung. On the extreme right of the image is the Napier Courthouse (designed by William Henry Clayton, completed 1875). Two two-storey buildings clad in timber weatherboards are visible between the council chambers and the courthouse.
