About this object
A photograph depicting damage at West Quay, Ahuriri after the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake. West Quay is structurally compromised with extensive cracking and crumbling. Work is being undertaken on the shed in the centre of the image. A man on a ladder is seen securing or fixing the outside of the building.

There are also men visible standing outside Williams and Kettle, the building seen at left with three peaked roofs. Dalgety and Company building is also visible standing beyond and slightly out from the Williams and Kettle building. A steam trawler and several ships are visible along the quay.
