Brief Description
The Egyptian Red Book, written by George Stronach and George Roland Halkett, dated 1884, is a political satire. It brings together satirical cartoons of politicians with quotations in chronological order primarily from debates in British Parliament. There are also articles from newspapers, letters, dispatches from the field, and other related materials. The work is a case against Britain's Gladstone Government, which, in the opinion of the authors, failed to provide General Charles Gordon with adequate support in the task he was sent to perform as military officer in Khartoum, Sudan.
