About this object
This photograph depicts the Municipal Buildings in Hastings after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February.

The photograph has been taken from Heretaunga Street, looking towards Hastings Street.

Opened in 1907, the two-storied building was designed in simple Renaissance style by Albert G Garnett. The building suffered some damage during the 1931 earthquake. Some of this damage can be seen in the photograph. Bracing supports the front façade.

The photographer is thought to be Frank L Moodie, architect.
