About this object
View of Marine Parade looking towards Bluff Hill. On the left of the image stands the band rotunda donated to the Borough of Napier by Neal and Close in 1894. A cannon is on display in front of the band rotunda. Behind the band rotunda, the Borough Council Chambers (built 1874) stand on the corner of Marine Parade and Herschell Street. Further along Marine Parade, the Napier Courthouse (designed by William Henry Clayton, completed 1875) and the Clive Flood Memorial are visible. On the opposite side of the street, Marine Parade is lined with young Norfolk Island Pines. Tree guards enclose each of the trees.
