This photograph depicts the Public Trust Building on the corner of Karamu Road and Queen Street in Hastings. The photograph was taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931.
The building suffered no structural damage from the quake.
The Public Trust Building was designed by Wellington architect Stanley W. Fearn and built by Hastings builder J.W.C. Monk at a cost of £10,925 in 1925, completed in 1926.
The photographer is thought to be Frank L Moodie, architect.
