About this object
View of Marine Parade looking towards Bluff Hill. The Borough Council Chambers (built 1874) stand on the corner of Marine Parade and Herschell Street. Further along Marine Parade, the Napier Courthouse (designed by William Henry Clayton, completed 1875), the Hawke’s Bay Club (designed by Walter Phillip Finch, built 1906), and Dr Walter William Moore's Upoko Poito Private Hospital (built 1919) are visible. The seaward side of Marine Parade is lined with Norfolk Island Pines. The Hastings-Napier bus is parked along the street. Temporary buildings with canvas awnings are located along the esplanade. Immediately behind these structures a fair ride has been erected. Sign advertising Eskimo Pies and Electroette Photos are visible. Bluff Hill is visible in the distance.
