About this object
A photograph of soil removal after a slip following the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake. The location is unknown.

The image is taken from the road looking up at a slip on a hill. A crane is working loading earth into the back of the truck at the base of the hill. A man is also standing near the crane’s cabin shovelling dirt with a spade.

On the hill a house is visible. There is also a house to the left of the image at the bend in the road.
