About this object
A photograph of demolition and removal of debris in a Napier Street. This photograph was taken following the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake. This is possibly an image of Dickens Street, outside Anderson and Hansen Motors.

The image shows men working with a crane device attached to a motor vehicle removing large blocks of masonry from the street.

Bicycles and tyres are evident at the front of the machine. There are buildings and cars in the background of the image.

Photographer: Dave Williams.
