Poem, The Battle of Bradlaugh
Webb, William Josiah
Good people! lend your ear, I pray
And hear what passed the other day,
When Bradlaugh sought the Commons' doors,
Defying Speaker, House and laws.
The House forbade him, as you know,
His face within their walls to show;
Until this Session should be o'er,
He might not pass beyond the door.
The poem is about Charles Bradlaugh and English politics in the 1880s.
