View of Napier taken from Tiffen Park looking towards the sea. On the extreme left of the image is Bluff Hill. In the left foreground, St John’s Cathedral (architect Benjamin W Mountfort, consecrated 1888) is located on Browning Street. Also visible along Browning Street are the old Napier Post Office, Colonial Bank, South British Insurance Company building, Hawke’s Bay Club, Napier Courthouse, Athenaeum, and Hannah’s Buildings. To the left of Browning Street Dr Walter William Moore's Upoko Poito Private Hospital is visible on Marine Parade.
To the right of Browning Street is Tennyson Street. Along Tennyson Street stands the Masonic Hotel. Other businesses visible along Tennyson Street include the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company and service station Alward and Bissell.
To the right of Tennyson Street is Emerson Street. Among the businesses that are visible along Emerson Street are Ross & Glendining Limited (warehousemen and manufacturers) and Foremans.
On the extreme right of the photograph the E & D building (designed by E A Williams, built 1929) and the premises of the Hawke’s Bay Motor Company Limited are visible.
