About this object
An image of Ahuriri, possibly taken at the Western Spit.

The dwellings in the image are thought to have been built by Māori.

The Napier hills are early roads are visible in the background. The house on the summit of the hill in the background is thought to be J M Stuart's house. This was later owned by John Vautier who was a prominent and influential Hawke's Bay identity.
