About this object
This photograph depicts the intersection of Shakespeare Road and Browning Street from Bluff Hill.

The photograph was taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931. The ruins of the Post Office can be seen in the centre of the image. Across from this is the damaged AMP building. To the left is the Clarendon Hotel. The Hannahs Building, gutted by fire, can be seen on the right hand edge of the photograph. The Athenaeum is visible on Browning Street. To the left down Marine Parade is the Hawke's Bay Club and Dr Moore's Private Hospital.

The photographer is thought to be Frank L Moodie, architect.
