About this object
A photograph of men loading bales of wool from trucks onto a vessel at the Port of Napier wharf, dated 1940. A man in a work apron stands with his back to the camera facing toward the bow of the ship. He is standing on top of the wool bales he appears to be loading on to the ship. The wool bales are on the deck of a flat bed truck owned by Barry Brothers Carriers. The company name is visible along the edge of the loading deck of the truck. On the door of the truck there is an advertisement reading: Agents for Taupiri and Westport Coal.

A large ship is in port in the background. Another man is in the background of the image loading wool onto the ship. He has attached a wool bale to a rigged hook for transfer of the bale onto the ship.
