View of Clive Square taken from the intersection of Dickens Street and Clive Square West looking towards Napier Hill. On the extreme right of the photograph, the band rotunda in Clive Square is visible. The perimeter of the square has been planted with trees and shrubs. The square is enclosed by a picket fence. At the extreme left of the image is Main School. To the right of the school, Milton Road intersects with Tennyson Street. Among the businesses visible along Tennyson Street are the Theatre Royal (built 1877), J Pullen, and Clive Square Bakery.
