About this object
View of Clive Square looking towards the intersection of Dickens Street and Munroe Street taken in the early twentieth century. On the extreme left of the image stands St Patrick’s Church (built 1894), designed by Robert Lamb. Opposite St Patrick's Church is the Napier Technical College which is the large two storey building and beside it is the Masonic Lodge. The ornate Edwardian period fountain built in 1904 to commemorate the public service of William Robert Blythe is visible along the south boundary of Clive Square. On the extreme right of the photograph the band rotunda, which was located in the centre of Clive Square, is visible. The park is enclosed by a white picket fence. Several people can be seen in the square.
