About this object
An image of people catching shrimp in the shallows of Ahuriri lagoon, circa 1920.

A woman in a hat is seated on the foreshore with her back to the camera whilst a small girl sits to her left in a similar outfit. A boy is standing holding a shrimping net and another child is further in the shallow waters of the lagoon leaning forward over the water.

The photograph appears to be taken from the Western Spit looking back toward West Quay and Hospital Hill. The old bridge between West Quay and Westshore is visible in the distance.

A sailing ship, possibly the Frank Guy, is moored off what is presumably Meeanee Point.
