About this object
View of Hastings Street looking south that is thought to have been taken in the mid 1930s. At the centre of the image stands the Telegraph Office on the corner of Hastings Street and Dickens Street. To the right of the Telegraph Office stands the Hyde's Building. The Bennett’s Building is also visible. On the extreme right of the image are the premises of Blythes Limited. Behind the Telegraph Office the Caledonian Hotel is visible.

Businesses that are visible down the street include Ellerms Pharmacy, Elise Ross (milliner), H M Bennett (optometrist), and Hart and Hart (chiropractors). Cars can be seen parked along Hastings Street.
