An air letter dated 25 June 1945 from Joan Campbell to Mrs Raey Hawley.
Joan Campbell mentions the receipt of Raey's letter about Victory in Europe Day and writes that she is glad they received a good account of the celebrations in London.
She writes that she has possibly found passage to New Zealand at the end of July and of her excitement to be going home. She mentions her feelings about the experiences she has had in England during the war and her travel plans before they leave England.
She writes of Lieutenant Colonel Webb from Rotorua who spent a few days with her after 2 1/4 years in German prison camps; a meeting with a social worker who is going to Germany; her farewell visit to London with Ted where they saw the damage to the city and new flowers springing up amongst the ruins. She also mentions that New Zealand Prisoner's of War were everywhere in London.
She writes of her enjoyment of the book she is reading, Green Dolphin Country, and of the interest in England on the subject of New Zealand.
Finally, she writes that this will likely be the last letter she sends before leaving and that she looks forward to meeting again soon.
