Brief Description
An air letter dated 4 September 1944 from Joan Campbell to Mrs Raey Hawley.

In this letter the author writes about receiving things from Raey and the advantages and disadvantages of air mail compared to surface mail. She describes some of her work as a psychiatric nurse including the treatments she is giving to those who have suffered nervous breakdowns, the occupational and physical therapy, and evening social programmes for patient entertainment. She writes of the effect of the bombing on the patients and compares the current bombing conditions to the Blitz. She mentions that she spent a weekend with her husband and describes the house that they stayed in. She writes of her enjoyment of Sussex, visiting country pubs after dinner, starting a needlework class and her planned projects. She commiserates about Raey's husband, Dick, being away at war and thinks of Raey's child, Lynn. She writes that she plans to try for a child of her own.

Attached to the front is an English 6d postage revenue stamp.
