About this object
View of Hastings Street taken from Browning Street in the 1920s or early 1930s. On the left side of the image can be seen the Hannah’s Buildings (built 1915), which housed footwear merchant Hannah’s, and the Abbott Building. On the opposite side of Hastings Street stands the Bank of New Zealand. Among the other businesses that are visible along this side of the street are Howe Brothers (bookseller and stationer) and Ringland Brothers (tailors and mercers). At the centre of the image, the Port Ahuriri tram stops to pick up passengers.
