Visible signage reads:
H.R French, bookseller on Heretaunga Street, east of where it meets Maddison Street.
Paul Hannah, The Cycle King, Heretaunga Street.
Yates' Cash Stores Ltd, Heretaunga Street.
Also visible on the two-storied building on the left is a sign that reads Snooker across the top and Billiards down the left and right hand sides.
The photographer is thought to be Frank Moodie.
