This photograph depicts the damaged school hall at Napier Boy's High School, caused by the Hawke's Bay earthquake on the 3rd of February 1931.

Damage to the roof and fallen bricks can be seen and a huge fissure in the earth running from the side of the building to the foreground of the image.

The photographer is thought to be Frank Moodie.
