About this object
View of Hastings Street taken looking south from Browning Street. The corner of Hastings Street and Browning Street is occupied by the Hannah's Buildings (built 1915), housing footwear merchant Hannah’s. Immediately behind the Hannah’s Buildings is the Abbott Building. Along this side of the street signs advertising an accountant and auditor, a pharmacy, J C Chadwick (bookseller and stationer), and Parker and Company Limited (tailor and outfitters) can be seen. On the extreme right of the photograph stands the Bank of New Zealand. Among the businesses that are visible along this side of the street are Howe Brothers (bookseller and stationer), Ringland Brothers (tailors and mercers) and the Union Bank of Australia.
