About this object
View of Hastings Street from Browning Street that is thought to have to have been taken around 1930. On the corner of Hastings Street and Browning Street stand the premises of footwear merchant Hannah’s, Darby’s Stores Limited (fancy goods) and a dentist. Below the awning of this building a sign points to Lockyer’s Gramophone Store on Browning Street. Immediately behind the Hannah’s Buildings is the Abbott Building, which houses W P Henderson (chemist and optician), J C Chadwick (bookseller and stationer), and The Commercial Bank of Australia Limited. Further down the street a sign advertising Parker and Company Limited (tailor and outfitters) can be seen. In the foreground a tram stops to pick up a passenger.
