Men are standing on the beach with dogs. A group of men and women are lined up to the right in front of the houses on the foreshore. A dray horse stands at the side of the last house in the image at the right.

Bluff hill is evident in the centre background.

The North British Freezing Works emission chimney is to far left of the photograph.
